Why choose us

There are cheaper options. Here is why people stay.

Ironing is not a complicated service, which means the difference between one provider and another comes down to reliability, honesty about pricing, and whether the same person turns up each week.

Eight reasons

What actually makes the difference

None of these are dramatic on their own. Together they are why the majority of customers who start never go back to doing it themselves.

One pair of hands, from door to door

Every order is collected, pressed, checked and returned by Christine Cawthron personally. Nothing is subcontracted, so the standard does not drift and there is never a question about who handled your clothes.

Pricing that has not moved in two years

Up to twenty items for £15 and 50p thereafter — the same figures long-standing customers were quoted when they started. No fuel levy, no seasonal surcharge, no quiet creep.

Insured, DBS checked, accountable

Public liability cover is in place and a current DBS certificate can be shown on request. It matters when someone is calling at your home every week, particularly for older or vulnerable customers.

A turnaround that tells the truth

24 hours is the standard, not a marketing line. On the rare weeks it cannot be met — December, a huge order, illness — you are told at booking rather than left waiting.

Nothing hidden on the bill

Your ironing is counted properly at the board and you get a call with the price before delivery is arranged. Collection, delivery and the quick turnaround are all included rather than itemised afterwards.

Genuinely local knowledge

Collections are built around West Yorkshire postcodes, school runs and shift patterns rather than a fixed weekly round. You get a real collection window on the day you asked for, not a four-hour slot from a depot forty miles away.

No contract, no minimum, no commitment

Book weekly, fortnightly or once a year when the pile gets out of hand. Skip a week whenever you like. Nothing to cancel and nothing to renew.

Almost entirely word of mouth

Most new customers arrive through a neighbour, a salon or a school gate. That is a slower way to grow, and it is the reason the standard has to stay where it is.

An honest comparison

Us, the high street, and the national chains

Written as fairly as we can manage. There are things the chains do better — capacity in December, for one — and this table does not pretend otherwise.

Where a bigger operation genuinely wins

Capacity. A national chain can absorb a hundred extra orders in the week before Christmas; a one-person service cannot. If you need guaranteed turnaround at peak times regardless of volume, they are the better fit — and it is more useful to say that here than to find out in December.

In their words

Three customers on why they stayed

Straightforward, honest and always on time. I asked for a bigger bundle one week with no notice and it was no trouble at all. The extra items were charged exactly as quoted — no surprises on the bill, which I appreciate.

My mum is eighty-four and struggles with a heavy iron now. Chris is patient, chats to her on the doorstep, and always texts when she is on her way. It is the little bit of kindness that makes the difference, not just the ironing.

Six stylists, six sets of blacks, every single week. It comes back sorted and labelled by name so the girls just grab theirs. One invoice at the end of the month and I never have to think about it. Best decision I made for the salon.
